Rooster Rojo

A 3D tequila factory for the header

A tiny tequila factory, built in 3D, as the header of Rooster Rojo's website: a way to show where the tequila really comes from.

Instead of a bottle on a plain background, the header shows the whole process in one playful diorama: the agave, the stone mill, the copper still and a shots machine, sketched, built, textured and animated in Blender.

The situation

Rooster Rojo is a tequila from Tequila town in Mexico, made from 100% blue agave. That origin is the heart of the brand, but most tequila websites show little more than a bottle on a plain background.

I wanted the header to tell that story instead, before you read a single word.

The goal

Show the authenticity of Rooster Rojo by building their factory in 3D, right in the header of their website.

One diorama that shows how the tequila is made, from the agave to the shot glass: a header that feels warm, playful and real, and that makes you curious about the brand.

The process

Sketch & blockout

Before opening Blender, I sketched the factory on paper: which steps of the process to show, and how they connect into one line that you read from left to right.

Then I turned the sketch into a blockout: big, untextured shapes to get the scale, the composition and the camera angle right before adding any detail.

Styleboard & vibe

To set the vibe, I made a styleboard: playful 3D dioramas, glossy glass, desert sand, agave leaves and fresh lime.

From it came the palette: agave green, soft pink, magenta, orange and peach. Warm and sunny, with a touch of a Mexican sunset, so the header feels like the place the tequila comes from.

Build, texture & animate

Then the real building started. I modelled every machine in detail: the stone mill with the roasted agave hearts, the agave plant, the giant bottle with its copper coil, the still and the shots machine with its conveyor belt.

I textured everything with brick, copper, glass and wood, lit the scene with warm light and animated it, so the factory comes to life in the header.

Responsive on mobile

A header has to work on every screen. I made it responsive for mobile, so the factory still reads well on a small screen and the title and the “Read more” button stay clear.

Reflection

What I learned: This was my first Blender project. Modelling every object and creating its textures myself taught me the basic Blender skills, and gave me real insight into how the 3D world works: from the first blockout to light, materials and a finished render.
